Beyond Scary! The Frightening Ponderosa Hotel In Reno, NV
NationalElevators' words- "I've been going past this place for as long as I've been visiting Reno. The front of the building is simply labeled as the "Wild Orchid" Which itself is a strip club. I always figured the tower on top of it was the Wild Orchid's "hotel" so to call it. The place has always intrigued me, since its one of the larger hotels outside of the main Reno strip, and nobody has been to it or photographed it. Doing some research online, I found out that it's actually called the Ponderosa Hotel, but it is connected directly to the strip club. Upon looking at photos on Google maps, there was a recent photo from December of 2018 that someone took of the elevator, which showed the original black buttons and certificate with Montgomery" written on it. I had plans to go there now. Driving up to the property, you're greeted with a sign that states rooms are $18 a night. The parking lot is shared with the strip club, and there are very shady looking people walking about the premises. Most of them looking like drug addicts, alcoholics, and even some homeless people. I parked my car in the lot, which I was worried about doing since the aforementioned homeless and blatant drunkards roaming the area. I made my way into the hotel lobby, where you're greeted with a very unkept front desk with a girl in her late twenties or early thirties who looked like she could care less about where she was at. There was a large sign saying that all visitors need to leave their Nevada state ID at the desk and to sign in with your name and telephone number. I walked right by and the person at the desk didn't give a rats ass about me. The elevators have the same signs posted on the doors and above the call button, which was replaced with a key switch to call them. There is a staircase door directly to the right of the elevator that isn't locked. And I saw lots of "hotel guests", I suppose, using that more than the one elevator that was working. I go up to the second floor using those stairs, which inside looked like a hotspot for shooting up heroin or something malicious like that. I exit on the second floor and promptly begin filming. I spent no more time than I needed to there. I got my video, exited on the first floor, and left to my car which was thankfully untouched. The couple of guests I encountered were friendly, but they were clearly either on narcotics or just messed up in the head. I didn't even want to step out into the hallways to get a look around, which most of you know is unlike myself. Do not ever come here. It's not worth it. My words- To say this place is sketchy would be an understatement. I have no idea how this place remains open, but it does. You guys have seen all the scary motels I've gone into, but this is one of those places I didn't even want to go to. The building as a whole gives off such a scary vibe. I've walked by this place and never went in because it just doesn't look safe at all. I feel like if I were to go in there, I might not come back out the same way. Literally. Who knows how many people are shootin up and getting laid in there as I type this... [This video was filmed and sent to me by National Elevator. He has given me permission to post this video.
