The Wild World of Ancient Christian Propaganda

Over 1600 years ago, propaganda was just as prevalent (and influential) as it is today. One source of ancient propaganda was orthodox Christian heresiology. Here, I cover excerpts from Tertullian’s “Against Marcion,” Irenaeus’ “Against Heresies,” and Epiphanius’ “Panarion.” Marcionites and Christian gnostic sects were constantly mocked, likely misrepresented, and accused of immoral acts within these texts.
