15 Tech Products BANNED From Return (The Fine Print They Don't Tell You)
15 Tech Products BANNED From Return (The Fine Print They Don't Tell You) HP sued for $3.5 million in 2017 over printer ink cartridges. HP installed firmware updates preventing third-party cartridges from working. Customers stuck with expensive cartridges HP deliberately bricked. No returns because cartridges were opened. Retailers won't accept opened ink. HP won't refund third-party products. Customers total loss. HP settled lawsuit for $1.5 million, far less than customer losses. Return policies remained unchanged. This video exposes 15 tech products banned from return once opened. Not because defective. Not because used. Because fine print says you can't. From opened printer ink (Staples, Office Depot, Best Buy, Walmart all prohibit opened cartridge returns) to software with product keys (Microsoft Office $149.99, wrong version bought, Best Buy refused return because key exposed even though never activated). Adobe Creative Cloud annual plan $54.99/month with annual commitment. Cancel early = 50% remaining contract value fee. Cancel 9 months early = $250 termination fee. Customer signed up, lost freelance contract after 4 months, owed $210 to cancel. Continued unwanted subscription 8 more months ($424) because canceling cost $210 immediately. PlayStation 5 launch November 2020: GameStop required unopened returns. If opened, exchange-only for defective units. Customer got defective PS5 HDMI port, Target required exchange not refund, no PS5s in stock, waited 3 months for restock. DRM activates on first use making returns impossible. Kindle ebooks refundable within 7 days if not started reading. iTunes movies final once downloaded. Supreme Court ruled 2013: you don't own digital content, you license it. Licenses not protected by first-sale doctrine. Companies can restrict resale, returns, transfers because you never owned product. Return policies aren't consumer protections. They're legal structures designed to prevent returns while appearing generous. Fine print protects companies, not customers. --- Before WiFi explores life before smartphones and WiFi changed everything, the technology, gadgets, and everyday moments from 1990-2010. 📧 Business: [email protected] Join this channel to get access to perks: / @before-wifi-english #ReturnPolicy #ConsumerRights #FinePrint #TechProducts #HP #Adobe #DRM #BeforeWiFi
