Building a DIY Kinetic Wall Art using 3D Printer (Blossom & Mandala, Kinetic Art)
Thanks for watching. I newly designed and built two kind of kinetic sculptures which can be used for wall decor. When I looked at these kinetic sculptures, the words ‘Blossom’ and ‘Mandala’ came to mind, so I give the names to these kinetic sculptures. The design of ‘Blossom’ is partially inspired from a wheel design of SM7 which is manufactured by RENAULTSAMSUNG Co. And ‘Mandala’ is designed by little modification of the design of the ‘Blossom’ Spokes of these sculpture has smooth curve line so that it gives the interior a gorgeous and neat ambience. To reduce the dimension of 3D printed part, the “BUTTERFLY KEY JOINT” was applied to easily assemble separated spoke parts. Therefore, the sizes of all parts are smaller than 200 mm by 200 mm and almost every 3D printer can print it. My kinetic art is operated by fully mechanical mechanism such as spring driven and magnetic force. I tried to present the mechanism as much detail as possible in this video. In the future, I plan to try to test various patterns that have never been seen before. And I think the results can be satisfying or disappointing, but it doesn’t matter. :) All drawings are shared from Thingiverse website. I hope your enjoyable DIY life with my work.
