From the Karakese junction, the road leaves Dörtyol behind — hairpin after hairpin, an unrelenting climb, green walls on both sides all the way to the plateau. A small roadside viewpoint looks down over the Dörtyol plain — a perfect sunset spot in the evenings, a wide and peaceful panorama during the day. As the turnoffs for neighbouring plateaus Yahyalı and Pekmezci Topaktaş pass by, the valley narrows and the air cools. Çökek is a simple highland settlement open for day trips, centred around its mosque and village square. Nearby plateaus — Yahyalı and Pekmezci Topaktaş — line this route connecting Dörtyol to the Hassa side. 📅 Day Note: Çökek sits in a narrow valley prone to natural disasters. A 2013 flood followed by a landslide claimed 5 lives; a landslide forced evacuations in 2024, and a forest fire did the same in 2025.
