After 10 years of hard work, she became the first person in the world to solve the inverse problem of wave scattering, an unsolved problem in the history of applied mathematics. Using this as a foothold, she has developed and commercialized numerous observation technologies applicable to fields such as medicine, energy, infrastructure, and security. ▼Makiko Kawamura A businesswoman born in Nara Prefecture, she graduated from a public high school in Higashi-Osaka and UC Berkeley.
