He is the only child of KH Muhammad Amin and Hj Maimunah. Ma'ruf Amin is his full name, as he is known and recognized by the public. However, it turns out that Kiai Ma'ruf's full name is not Ma'aruf Amin, but Ma'ruf al-Kharki. This name was chosen by his father, KH Muhammad Amin, when Ma'ruf was born.
