Minister Hodgson unveils nuclear energy strategy – June 22, 2026

In Newmarket, Ont., federal Energy Minister Tim Hodgson announces the launch of the federal government’s new nuclear energy strategy. A component of the government’s recently released national electricity strategy, the plan aims to expand uranium production and nuclear fuel opportunities, as well as increase foreign markets for Canadian nuclear technology. Also speaking are Sima Acan (MP, Oakville West), Stephen Lecce (Ontario minister of energy and mines), René Legacy (New Brunswick minister of energy), Jeremy Harrison (Saskatchewan minister responsible for SaskEnergy Incorporated), George Christidis (President and CEO, Canadian Nuclear Association) and Sean Strickland (executive director, Canada's Building Trades Unions).
