The Bombardier LRV aka the Bombardier Flexity swift LF-70 is Metro Transits first Light rail vehicle(LRV) Debuting in June 2004 on the then Hiawatha line(Now Blue line) The vehicle is Bi-directional and is 11 ft tall and weighs around 39 Tons as per U.S Crashworthiness requirements Metro Transit is the only transit system to use this exact Bombardier model making it unique to Minnesota. Bombardier vehicles have a built in snow plow to keep snow off the tracks and have a 2nd Pantograph(10:05) to remove ice buildup on the catenary lines making it a vehicle that’s more than reliable for Minnesota harsh winters.
