What makes your eyes shine… the respect of your professional peers or the personal maturity that seeks to grow and develop more and more? Unfortunately, few realize the need to focus on this path and not that one, confusing solitude with loneliness; few realize the harm that this scientific culture of circular and ephemeral self-consumption can cause. The virtue of the intellectual man is his heart that expands to encompass the totality of reality. The virtue of the intellectual man is his desire to be among great things, even if, at times, they appear small. The virtue of the intellectual man is the rejection of all petty specialization that limits and corrupts the gaze. We have no control over anything, we have no right to seize reality as if it were ours – we are only part of something infinitely greater than ourselves: existence itself. Therefore, all that remains for us is to contemplate.
