Rosh Hanikra sea caves
Israel video tour with David Hyman, professional guide. Many of my guests are surprised at how diverse Israeli is. We have ancient cities and religious sites, the south is desert and the north is lush and green, we have modern cities and museums and we have the most wonderful beaches along the Mediterranean sea. But no one expects this stunning site that is hidden all the way at the end of Israel - the Rosh HaNikra sea caves. The natural caves were formed by earthquakes, and erosion and then shaped and enlarged by the force of the waves. The cliffs are made of soft limestone called chalk and are the most western part of the "Ladder Ridge". The ridge has always been the natural barrier between Israel and our neighbors in the north and so it is till today. The site is heavily guarded by IDF soldiers and equipment, as Lebaono is right across the hill. Visiting the sea cave is easy and fun. A scenic cable car takes you down to the caves, and then you can walk the path under the mountain and immerse yourself in the enchanting wonders of nature. The blue crisp waters and the cave wall are visuals you will not forget. But the strongest sense as you walk is your hearing. The sea roars and barks and then hiss and slap gently ... and then roars again. It's mesmerizing. The mountain above had to be crossed either for war or peace. It was done by climbing or sailing around it. In 1942 the British army chose to dig through it and carve the railway tunnels and a connecting bridge. The train was for military use only and connected the port of Haifa with the port of Beirut. In 1948 the Hagana forces were worried the rail tunnel might be used by the Lebanese to invade Israel, and a sabotage unit blew it up. When done touring the site, take the cable car back up, and walk to the fence of the Israeli army base, this is as far as you can go, beyond the fence is Lebanon. Take a picture by the sign the says BEIRUT and then say goodbye to one of the most beautiful places In Israel My Instagram - / dtalesisrael My website - https://davidhymanisrael.com/ Recorded by David Hyman with GoPro Hero 7 Black Edited by David Hyman with Apple Ipad Mini Music track for this video: Sailing by Delicate Steve
