Quennell Lake LOADED With Fish! Bass & Pumpkinseed Fishing | Vancouver Island

In today’s video, we head out on a two day fishing trip on Vancouver Island with my friends and girlfriend to chase bass and pumpkinseed, and this lake was absolutely loaded with fish. We started the day with light ultralight setups, bobber fishing from shore and using small soft plastics to get everyone on fish fast. My girlfriend was throwing an ultralight setup with a small Clear Drift trout worm on an EWG hook, and that was more than enough to get non stop action from pumpkinseed. Not just tiny ones either, some of these pumpkinseed were actually pretty chunky. A few of my friends ended up catching fish for the first time, which made the trip even better. After warming up with the ultralight gear, we moved over to the docks and started trying some baitcasting and fly fishing. The pumpkinseed were everywhere, but the bass were playing hard to get. Eventually, we got out on the boat to search for a bigger bass. We found a few good ones, but sadly lost every bite we got. The lure that almost got me a big bass was a chartreuse chatterbait rigged with a Clear Drift bubblegum pink worm. Absolute heartbreak moment, but that is fishing lol. After the big bass upset, we went back to the docks and kept fishing. Some kids even pulled up one of the bigger bass we had lost earlier, and somehow we ended up getting our Trout Magnet lure back too. Wild side quest. Later in the trip, after teaching Lance how to catch pumpkinseed, I finally landed my first good sized bass using a simple jig head and worm. Not a giant, but definitely a good one and a big personal win for me. To end the trip, we messed around with sticks and turned them into makeshift fishing rods, because apparently we are cavemen now. Overall, this was one of those fun, chaotic, non stop action fishing trips where the fish were biting, the laughs were rolling, and even the dinks felt like a win. Most of the fish were small, but catching fish is always better than catching nothing. Thanks for watching and subscribe for more BC fishing, camping, catch and cook, and outdoor adventures.
