Having given composition and performance workshops around the world, Hwabaraty opens the 14th edition and closing episode of Kwesami with an exhilarating performance of the song Amathambo. This song is traditional folklore within Ndebele Culture (Zimbabwe), and the artist teams up with world-renowned percussionist, instrument builder and ethnomusicologist Othnell Mangoma Moyo to reflect the rich and diverse sounds of the track. In the second song, Hwabaraty sings Zithulele, a track that the artist quests to write his own story and carve out his own unique identity as a musician. Being part of Jeys Marabini’s ensemble, Hwabaraty has gone on to draw his influences from his cultural folklore, and with the new album entitled Jelimana coming out in May 2022, the singer desires to play the music that is truly authentic to him. For Hwabaraty the inextricable link of music to spirituality and the yearning for something deeper is always at the heart of his new path. This is shown in the last track called Ezulwini, which seeks to encourage people to do good on earth.
