The men, living and dead, who struggled here Have consecrated it, far above our power to add or detract The world will little note what we say here But it can’t forget what they did here The living should be dedicated here To the unfinished work which they fought here That from these honored dead Which gave the last full measure of devotion- We highly resolve that the dead shall not have died in vain That this nation, under God, has a new birth of freedom And that government of, by, for the people shan’t perish from the earth Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent A new nation of liberty that is now engaged in a civil war From these honored dead we take increased devotion to the cause for which they died Government of and by and for the people shall not perish from the earth
