Beyond Diagnosis: How Rehabilitative Therapy Supports Life With FTD

Rehabilitative therapy is essential for addressing the unique needs of each person with FTD, helping individuals preserve function during their most active years. With no disease-modifying treatments available yet, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech-language pathology often serve as the only evidence-based interventions to support mobility, communication, and daily living skills. Because symptoms vary widely, a multidisciplinary approach is critical. Even small gains can meaningfully improve quality of life. By emphasizing rehabilitation, care shifts toward functional goals, dignity, autonomy, and person-centered support.
