NO. 199 - Just Make Art | Abstract Neo Expressionist Oil and Coldwax Painting 12x16

Sometimes the best paintings begin without a plan. "NO. 199 – Just Make ART" started with a simple idea: create a layer of black paint marker beneath everything else, then slowly uncover it during the painting process. Beyond that, I had no roadmap. Working with oil paint, cold wax, a palette knife, a spoon handle, and a groove tool, I built up layers of blues, browns, and white before scraping, revealing, and changing direction over and over. Parts of the painting disappeared completely, others emerged unexpectedly. What began as uncertainty slowly became a conversation between hidden marks and exposed texture. This piece is a reminder that not every painting needs to start with a clear destination. Sometimes the most rewarding part of creating is trusting the process and simply making the next mark. If you enjoy abstract expressionism, palette knife painting, oil and cold wax techniques, or simply watching a painting evolve from beginning to end, I hope you'll enjoy following along.
