The body of cook Berenice Aguiar was found in a wooded area in Angra dos Reis, Rio de Janeiro. The discovery occurred 17 days after her disappearance and led to the temporary arrest of her former employer, Eliane, suspected of the crime due to issues related to labor debts. Berenice was 60 years old and had recently been fired from the restaurant where she worked in the backlands of Ubatumirim, Ubatuba (SP). Investigators from the specialized police station in São Sebastião found the body, and the rescue required special techniques due to the rugged terrain. Police believe Eliane assaulted Berenice after she demanded her labor rights. Allegedly, Berenice was forced into a pickup truck, where she was shot before her body was abandoned on the embankment. The vehicle underwent forensic examination, which identified traces of blood, and a DNA test will be performed. Three weapons were seized at the businesswoman's residence, and the investigation continues to determine the possible involvement of third parties. Police arrived at the scene after reviewing security camera footage, which showed the route taken by Eliane.
