WHAT WE LOST: Why Total War Games Got Worse Over Time

Over the years, the Total War series has evolved in some positive ways, whether it’s graphically with some pretty spectacular visuals or in mechanics with games like 3 Kingdoms and it’s brilliant character development, retinue or diplomacy systems, & others. Of course a lot of CA’s effort has been to make the series more accessible to a wider paying audience. As we’ve stepped forward in some of these areas though, we’ve also lost a huge amount of depth, flexibility, and character in others. And honestly, CA has never been good and carrying over good working features from one game to the next so as time has gone on we've lost more and more features that made the franchise great.
