CARACOL PANAMA / PROMOS 2003- 2008 (Panamá Radio Histórica)

The news team was comprised of Panamanian journalists and led by Hugo Enrique Famanía. In 1999, the Colombian radio network Caracol officially began broadcasting in Panama. The station in this Central American country was the brainchild of two Panamanian businessmen from the advertising industry. Rafael Bárcenas and Mario Barletta, two of Panama's leading advertising executives, owned the majority of shares in Radio Caracol Panamá, which would broadcast nationwide via satellite. The brand franchise and the operating and management agreement were the first step in a transaction that has allowed Caracol to dedicate the last six months to preparing the station's inauguration for the 85th anniversary of the opening of the Panama Canal. Radio Caracol, whose Panamanian station was managed by Carlos Pérez and Jairo Pinzón, has stations in Chile, Portugal, France, and the United States and is affiliated with Spain's Cadena SER network.
