VIENNA WALTZES "DER ROSENKAVALIER" (Strauss/Balanchine)
Balanchine's last great Muse was Suzanne Farrell. Even though their great age difference (he was over 40 years her senior) negated any romantic involvement, and much to Balanchine's dismay, he none-the-less created many iconic roles for her and she was one of his greatest interpreters. Here is the final section of one of his most romantic ballets, "Vienna Waltzes." to the music of Richard Strauss. She is partnered here by Adam Luders. This is from a PBS live performance broadcast filmed only 2 months after Balanchine's death in 1983.
