Are You Making Your D&D Trolls Too Easy to Defeat?

Are You Making Your D&D Trolls Too Easy to Defeat? Trolls are often thrown at low-level parties -- and if you don't know what you're doing, they're either going to be really strong or really weak, depending mainly on their luck. Today, I'm designing a lair for a troll in D&D, and using this opportunity to talk about how to make creatures aware of their own abilities, their lairs, and their environments without making them sit up and give a dissertation. It's the difference between clever and cunning, and a troll is always the latter. While we're there, we'll talk about altering stat blocks (if necessary) and the lore behind why. 2:38 The Why of the Lair 5:52 Chamber by Chamber 6:04 1. The Front Steps 8:28 2.
