My 1 Year Experience with TrainerRoad! *Full FTP Gains* and Review
I did it! One full year of TrainerRoad and everything they have to offer. Tons of gains and tons of pain. I'm glad I was able to grind through all the base training, which was not easy and heavy on the legs (also long). I was over 95% compliant with all the programming after November 2019 and the only times I didn't do a ride were when I was sick here and there. I'm very happy with the results and I'll be continuing again this year! There is so much value in this program; I highly recommend it. #notsponsored 00:00 Intro 00:50 Chapter 1 - Background 02:50 Chapter 2 - Setup 04:48 Chapter 3 - Base Training and Plan Builder 09:42 Chapter 4 - Building Towards First Races 11:54 Chapter 5 - Starting Over 19:56 Chapter 6 - Final Results and Conclusion Instagram: www.instagram.com/claudio_fiero Strava: / strava ------------------------ What’s up everyone! It’s Claudio and today I’m gonna go over my complete 1 year experience with Trainerroad. I drank the entire Trainerroad Koolaid and did their high-volume base training, build and specialty plans, I watched and listened to their podcast, I did their recommended strength training and used the Plan Builder function to help me peak at the right time for races. I’ll be giving you all my FTP gains, showing you my favorite and least favorite workouts and I’ll talk about how the training affected my race performances this year. And spoiler alert: I got faster. First FTP Test ever, 1 week after starting cycling: 168w, 2.4w/kg - August 2017 FTP after 1.5 years of triathlon training 10hrs/week total: 225w - July 2019 These FTPs are my starting points at the beginning of each block. The entire time my weight was between 155lbs-160lbs except for the last one, where I was 151lbs. 242w - CX Specialty (4 weeks, mid vol) 9/9/19 237w - SSB1 (6 weeks, high vol) 11/25/19 256w - SPBuild (4 weeks, high vol) 1/7/20 (Crit Specialty 2 weeks, high) 266w - General build (2 weeks, high) 3/3/20 261w - SSB1 (4 weeks, high) 3/24/20 265w - SSB2 (4 weeks, high) 4/24/20 269w - General build (8 weeks, high) 5/19/20 276w - Rolling Race Specialty (9 weeks, high) 6/16/20 267w* - middle of specialty (lost my cadence in ERG mode and ruined the test towards the end. Kept 276w as FTP) 7/14/20 280w - End of specialty. @151lbs, 4.1w/kg on 9/1/20. TrainerRoad Review
