Pyrrusowe zwycięstwo Iomega ZIP - Jak CD-R zabił super-dyskietki (1995-1998) - Dokument

A grand return to the second half of the 1990s – an era when the standard 3.5" floppy disk no longer held anything, and the technology industry went crazy trying to find its successor. I combed through every issue of "PC World Komputer" magazine from 1995-1998 to recreate the story of the spectacular format war for the title of "super-floppy disk." From the launch of the iconic Iomega ZIP 100MB drive, through ambitious competitors (Imation LS-120, Sony HiFD, Caleb, MO drives, SyQuest sparq, syjet, MD Data), to the spectacular plot twist. Because although Iomega ZIP won this battle, the entire war was won by a format that no one initially considered in this race: the increasingly affordable CD-R burners. This film DOES NOT feature AI graphics or stock footage. Instead, it features raw hardware, the Polish economic realities of the time, contemporary price lists, and a plethora of live tests. In the video, you'll see: Iomega ZIP drives (Parallel and EIDE) and the powerful Iomega Jaz in action. Exotic and rare media: MD Data, a shrink-wrapped Avatar Shark 250, a Ditto drive, and MO drives (3.5" and 5.25"). Performance tests on computers from the era: a Toshiba Satellite 430cdt (Pentium 120, 24MB RAM with Windows NT 3.51 - 1996), a Lombard PowerBook (1999), and an Athlon 64 X2 platform (to check transfer limits). What are your memories of those times? Did any of you have a ZIP or LS-120 drive in your PC, or did you immediately switch to CD burners? Join the discussion in the comments!
