Porsche 718 GTS 4.0 and 981 Cayman explore Virginia 16 – The Back of the Dragon - which is as winding than the famous TN 129 - Tail of the Dragon, with more elevation gain and loss and much longer at over 30 miles. The 911 provided footage that I hope people will learn from. Spirited driving, especially on an unfamiliar road can obviously go wrong. I hope the video illustrates a risk you may not have considered – the risk that you won’t see or realize where the road is going until it is too late. What looked like a straight was instead a sharp left hairpin turn, and what looked like tarmac was instead the gravel that lead to the scene of the accident. We are on a mission to show you the best backroads, and sometimes get comments asking us to push; that the footage looks slow or casual. There is a line that you can approach and exceed on a track that you shouldn’t on the street. In the case of the 911, the cost of crossing the line was the car and a few cameras but it could have been much worse. Be safe out there.
