Does heat shrink vinyl? | Upholstery experiment for removing wrinkles from boat seats

This experiment shows how heat removes wrinkles from vinyl upholstery. I put the idea that you can "shrink" vinyl fabric with heat to the test. Heat does a great job, but it's important to know what's actually happening and how it affects the rest of your piece. I've got a boat, a shuttle bus and a truck to reupholster so I've been spending a lot of time online learning how to do things right.
