BIECZ, miasto królewskie - Dronem w ciekawe miejsca | WM Foxtrott

BIECZ, a royal town - Drone to interesting places | WM Foxtrott Today I invite you to the town of BIECZ in Gorlice County, located on the Ropa River, on one of the hills of the Carpathian Foothills. Due to its rich history, Biecz is often called the "pearl of Subcarpathia" or "little Kraków." It is also referred to as the "Polish Carcassonne," thanks to the preserved fragments of the medieval city walls and buildings. If you like the video, please like it. The settlement received Magdeburg rights in 1257, most likely from Bolesław the Chaste. This right was confirmed by Casimir the Great in 1363, and by 1306, Biecz had become a royal town. This allowed it to flourish in the 14th and 15th centuries. The Jagiellonian era, replete with numerous privileges granted by Casimir the Great and subsequent rulers, saw the town's further prosperity, and until the mid-16th century, it was one of the largest cities in Poland. During the most difficult period of the struggle for Poland's unification, Władysław the Elbow-high and his entire court resided at Biecz Castle from September 1311 to April 1312. This is where the tradition that Biecz was the capital of Poland at that time originated.
