Royal St. George's: Story of a Golf Club - The 1922 Open Championship
A slight twist on our usual films, we wanted to share the story of the 1922 Open Championship at Royal St. George's. The Hagen win in 1922 ushered in a new era of American dominance in the professional game, with a gritty performance over his English and Scottish counterparts. For all other films please head to https://www.cookiejargolf.com Credit due to Tom Clavin's book 'Sir Walter, The flamboyant life of Walter Hagen', and in there he brilliantly describes the events as they unfolded with Bernard Darwin reporting from the fairways. Royal St. George's is a club steeped in history and one of the most significant clubs in the British Isle's - more can be found out about the club and history, as well as the evolution of the links here. Friend of the pod @linksfromtheroad made a wonderful film back in the summer.
