This action is said to be the first direct retaliatory attack by the two Gulf states against Tehran. According to several sources, the operation marked a major shift in the dynamics of the conflict in the Middle East region. As reported by the Wall Street Journal on Saturday (July 25), the airstrikes reportedly targeted several strategic military facilities, including Iranian drone and missile storage depots. This move came after Iran had intensified attacks on Bahrain and Kuwait, which host US military bases, for several weeks. Despite having relatively small air forces, both countries reportedly did not want to continue being targeted without responding. The operation also reportedly reflected increasing military cooperation among Arab countries in confronting Iran. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) reportedly supported the operation by providing intelligence on the targets to be attacked. Furthermore, the UAE reportedly provided defensive air cover during the operation. Bahrain and Kuwait's retaliatory strikes were triggered by Iran's escalating attacks targeting vital civilian infrastructure in the region. Tensions between Iran and the Gulf states have escalated as the exchange of attacks in the region has escalated.
