¿Qué es el Trastorno específico del Lenguaje (TEL)?

The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA, 1980) defines Specific Language Impairment (SLI) as follows: “A language disorder is the abnormal acquisition, comprehension, or expression of spoken or written language. The problem may involve all, one, or some of the phonological, morphological, semantic, syntactic, or pragmatic components of the language system. Individuals with language disorders often have problems with language processing or abstracting meaningful information for storage and retrieval by short-term memory.” According to the most recent studies, the cause of specific language impairment has a strong genetic link, since between 50% and 70% of those who suffer from it have at least one family member with this communication difficulty.
