Compressible Flow Lesson Series - Lesson 10A: Introduction to Fanno Flow In this 17.5-minute video, Professor John Cimbala introduces Fanno flow - compressible flow in a duct with friction but no heat transfer. He explains the Fanno curve in detail and discusses choked flow and some of the equations of Fanno flow. Finally, he works out a simple example of choked Fanno flow. It is assumed that students have already taken an undergraduate fluid mechanics course (for which Professor Cimbala also has a popular video lesson series on his YouTube channel). The video lessons and notes closely follow the notes that Professor Cimbala uses when he teaches the course. Except for a few potential notation issues, however, these video lessons may be useful as a free resource at other schools and for anyone wishing to learn about fluid mechanics, and specifically, compressible flow.
