AR-15 Cases at Supreme Court — Magazine Bans About to Face Legal Storm

The Supreme Court just granted cert on two AR-15 cases — Viramontes v. Cook County out of Illinois and Grant v. Higgins out of Connecticut. This is the moment the Second Amendment community has been waiting for, and CRPA President Chuck Michel breaks down everything it means. After months of waiting, the Court has now hit what Chuck calls "the hat trick" — prohibited persons (Hemani), prohibited places (Wolford), and now prohibited guns. All in two weeks. Both cases include magazine ban components, which is huge for California's Duncan v. Bonta — Chuck explains exactly how Duncan now gets GVR'd back to the Ninth Circuit "in light of" the Viramontes and Grant rulings. Plus: why the Court likely took the AR-15 cases instead of the more developed Duncan case, how Justice Kavanaugh's "we have to take an AR-15 case" prediction came true, what "common use" means under the Heller-Bruen framework, why the Ninth Circuit will still try to wiggle out, and what CRPA's amicus brief strategy looks like for the next term. Huge congratulations to Tom Vander Boom on the Vermonts case win — and to Alan Beck on his Wolford victory last week. These are friends of CRPA and friends of the channel.
