John Wick 4 Nunchucks - Did They Exist in Battle ?

We recreate a Nunchuck from John Wick 4 as we explore the history behind this unique weapon. Thanks to Lionsgate and John Wick: Chapter 4 for sponsoring this video! Be sure to check out John Wick: Chapter 4 in theaters now! https://tickets.johnwick.movie/ As Matt and Ilya recreate the nunchucks used by Keanu Reeves in John Wick 4, the duo also dive into the "history" of this weapon. Their goal is try and pick apart this weapons cloudy past and try to make the case weather or not the Nunchuck was ever a battle weapon. For the build part, they only had some cloudy images that didnt really show the detail. Ilya starts off by forging the chain from some 14" bar. He then forges the two eyelet staples that hold the chain to the wooden handles. After that he forges the sockets from a piece of pipe and then engraves the details on the caps. The images made it hard to tell what was on there, but our best guess was a Japanese style demon as he is Baba Yaga afterall. The last part was to make the wood handles which we did out of white oak. first square then hand planed into octagon cross section with taper. After that the pieces are all antiqued with stain and a touch of the torch. Do you think the Nunchuck is a real battle weapon? Tell us why or why not in the comments.
