We embarked on our adventure with the MTDC guided tour service. Our guide, a cheerful local with a deep knowledge of the region, welcomed us warmly and gave us a quick overview of the day’s itinerary. The Mesmerizing Canyon Hills Our first stop was the Canyon Hills, a haven of serenity and panoramic views. As the bus wound through the meandering roads, we were greeted by the sight of towering cliffs, their bases blanketed with mist. Upon arrival, the beauty of the place left us awestruck. The rolling hills seemed to stretch endlessly, creating a dramatic backdrop for our photos. Mawlynnong: God’s Own Garden Our journey continued to Mawlynnong, famously known as “God’s Own Village” it is also the cleanest village of Asia. Nestled amidst lush greenery, it immediately lived up to its name. The village was spotless, with neatly swept paths and vibrant flowers adorning every corner. Dawki River: The Jewel of Asia Next, we headed to Dawki, home to the cleanest river in Asia. The sight of the Umngot River was nothing short of magical. The crystal-clear water was so pristine that the boats appeared to be floating on air. We couldn’t resist a boat ride, which offered an enchanting view of the riverbed below. As we drifted closer to the Bangladesh border, the landscape transformed. The lush hills of Meghalaya gave way to the flat plains of Bangladesh. At the riverbank near the border, we stepped ashore for a brief exploration. We grabbed a couple of cold beers from a riverside shack and toasted to the journey.
