KOMPAS.TV – Investigators from the Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya) arrested two suspects in an alleged slander case involving the diploma of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, on Friday morning. The arrests were made as a follow-up to the second phase of the case transfer to the Jakarta High Prosecutor's Office after the case file was declared complete (P21). According to their attorney, Roy Suryo was picked up by investigators at his residence in the Bintaro area, South Tangerang, at around 7:00 a.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB) after arriving from Bandung, West Java. Meanwhile, Doctor Tifa was picked up earlier at her apartment in the Tebet area, South Jakarta, at around 6:47 a.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB). After arriving at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya), Doctor Tifa, who was scheduled to take her dissertation exam, continued to take the exam online from the investigator's office. Both were then detained in connection with the ongoing case. The Jakarta Metropolitan Police's General Criminal Investigation Directorate explained that the arrests were made as part of the procedure for transferring the suspects and evidence to the prosecutor's office. The police stated that they had questioned 94 witnesses and 26 experts, both independent and those presented by the suspects. Furthermore, all documentary and digital evidence was claimed to have been examined by nationally and internationally certified institutions. Meanwhile, the legal team for Roy Suryo and Doctor Tifa, led by Refly Harun, protested the medical examinations conducted on both of them. According to Refly, his clients were in good health, making the examination unnecessary. He also believed the procedure had the potential to create a certain impression in the public eye. Responding to developments in the case, the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, as the plaintiff, stated that he would continue to follow the ongoing legal process. Jokowi also stated that the original diplomas, which were used as evidence, were still in the hands of investigators from the Jakarta Metropolitan Police.
