Your AR-15 Might Be Over-Gassed (But It's OK)
One of the most common AR-15 rifle configurations is usually over-gassed, which can cause early wear and tear, excess felt recoil, and even poorer accuracy. Rifles equipped with a 14.5" or 16" barrel and a carbine-length gas system would probably benefit from switching to a mid-length gas system. The military even tested and confirmed this.
