"Death of a Groupie" - A Current Affair (1990) Sammy of Fang
80's/90's newsmagazine show "A Current Affair" 1990 report entitled "Death of a Groupie" on 1980's Berkeley punk group Fang's lead singer Sam McBride's (aka Sammytown) 1989 murder of his girlfriend Dixie Carney who lived in Oakland at the time. Nationally in punk circles and especially in their Bay Area home back in the 1980's Fang were a popular underground band who got lots of love on such local stations as KALX Berkeley (on "HIp Hop Slam" among other shows). Later they would gain major attention when Kurt Cobain (a fan of the Bay Area group) and Nirvana covered Fang's song "The Money Will Roll Right In." After release from prison in the mid 90's Sammytown would reform the group.
