WFAN 1050 AM is born - July 1, 1987
This is a rare recording of the historic change to the first all-sports talk radio station in the country. Before they relocated down the dial to take over the WNBC 660 call letters, WFAN was up on 1050 AM, the former home of Country Music station WHN. Those call letters were officially retired after a 60+ year run over the New York airwaves and used in countless old films. I recorded the following as it happened just minutes before 3:00 pm (Eastern) and digitized it to make this entry on YouTube. Enjoy!
