The BScEng (Hons) specialization in Marine Engineering and Naval Architecture is a relatively new programme introduced in 2022. Initially conducted under the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, it soon evolved into a dedicated Department of Marine Engineering and Naval Architecture, reflecting the growing importance of maritime engineering education in the country. This programme is notable for being the first degree of its kind offered within the government university system of Sri Lanka.
