Breaking News June 19 2026 Part 2

As expected, confusion continues to abound in the fulfilling of the MOU... Nobody should be surprised... Israel, Hezbollah agree to ceasefire starting on Friday (Jerusalem Post) Pakistan, Egypt, Turkey and Saudi FMs to meet after Iran-US talks postponed (Iran International) Israel says Hezbollah keeps violating ceasefire, attacking civilians (X) Araghchi warns US responsible for any breach of Iran MoU Iran denies inviting IAEA to inspect sites hit by US, Israel (Iran International) IRGC outlet urges Tehran to close Hormuz, end US MoU implementation (Tasnim News) Headline 1 Israel, Hezbollah agree to ceasefire starting on Friday (Jerusalem Post) Israel and Hezbollah (actually Lebanon) have agreed to a ceasefire, an Israeli source confirmed to The Jerusalem Post. The ceasefire began at 4 p.m. local time on Friday, a senior US official told Reuters. At a press conference on Friday afternoon, an IDF spokesperson said the IDF will continue operating in Lebanon unless it receives different directives. "Recent events have made one thing clear: IDF soldiers must stand between Hezbollah and Israeli civilians," he said. Israel did not sign the MOU, they did not even know what was in it. Therefore, they are not bound by it in any way, shape or form. They have the right to protect their own country and this is exactly what they are doing. Headline 2 Pakistan, Egypt, Turkey and Saudi FMs to meet after Iran-US talks postponed (Iran International) Foreign ministers from Pakistan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye will meet in Cairo on June 21, as regional powers involved in Iran-US diplomacy seek to coordinate positions after a planned meeting between Iran and the US in Switzerland was postponed. It is interesting that immediately upon signing this agreement, other Muslim states must intervene to try to save it. This certainly does not bode well for any genuine solution to be accomplished in the future. Headline 3 Israel says Hezbollah keeps violating ceasefire, attacking civilians (X) Israel’s Foreign Ministry said Hezbollah has continued to violate the ceasefire and attack Israeli civilians with drones, rockets and anti-tank missiles, warning that “no country would allow this situation to continue.” ...“Hezbollah attacks Israelis with drones, rockets and anti-tank missiles,” the post said. “No country would allow this situation to continue.” This is a fact. Consequently, like every other country, Israel has every right to respond when they are attacked. Headline 4 Araghchi warns US responsible for any breach of Iran MoU (Iran International) Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned Washington that any violation of its commitments under a memorandum of understanding, including over ending the war in Lebanon, would be the responsibility of the United States. Since Israel did not sign the deal, there is no breach... Headline 5 Iran denies inviting IAEA to inspect sites hit by US, Israel (Iran International) This was as predictable as the sun rising in the East. After Witkoff made a big deal in front of congress how the IAEA will inspect all the sites in where the enriched uranium is stored or buried, Iran says no they won’t... at least during the first 60 days of the MOU period. Headline 6 RGC outlet urges Tehran to close Hormuz, end US MoU implementation (Tasnim News) The IRGC-affiliated Tasnim news agency called on Iranian authorities to close the Strait of Hormuz and end implementation of the Iran-US MoU, citing continued Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon. “Every minute that the Strait of Hormuz remains open is a major loss,” Tasnim wrote, adding that if the United States manages to relieve energy pressure on itself, “it will become even more brazen and aggressive.” The outlet directly urged officials to act, writing: “Close the strait and contain America at this very first step.” “Should officials not immediately end the implementation of the MoU and close the Strait of Hormuz?” Tasnim wrote. “Should there not be a powerful response to America and Israel so that their calculations do not shift further against the Islamic Republic and the resistance?” We will have to wait and see if Iran carries through with its threats. Basically, it is just one of the many problems that this deal is facing... As we can clearly see, the beginning of the fulfillment of the MOU has turned out to be chaos. For now, they cannot even get the negotiations started, let alone on agreeing to anything. It would be funny if it weren’t so tragic. We wait to see how this mess will be untangled, if possible!
