Meet Padma Shri Meenakshi Amma, an 82-year-old Kalaripayattu master from Kerala who has spent a lifetime preserving and passing on one of India’s oldest martial arts. This Women’s Day, Aditya Birla Group x Brut celebrates the force behind this collective effort and commitment to keeping this ancient martial art alive and thriving. With nearly 300 students training every year, her kalari is a place where courage and resilience are passed down from one generation to the next, and students learn how to hone their agility, strength, and self-confidence. She hopes to make Kalaripayattu more accessible to everyone, especially young women and, along with the foundation she serves as patron of, she continues to ensure that this ancient tradition travels far beyond the walls of the kalari– across India and beyond.
