ÁRTEMIS - A DEUSA DA CAÇA - MITOLOGIA GREGA

In Greek mythology, Artemis, daughter of Zeus and twin sister of Apollo, was the Greek goddess of the hunt. A self-proclaimed virgin who cared little for cities and culture, her domain was the wild forests and mountains that covered most of Iron Age Greece. Hunting was often seen as a masculine activity and, in the ancient world, was more often the work of men. Whether for food or sport, tracking animals through the forest was not seen as the right thing for a woman to do in most circumstances. The Greeks, however, made an exception to this assumption, at least when the hunter involved was a goddess.
