Canning River Regional Park Walk (Misty Winter Morning, Wildlife & History)
A calm winter walk through Canning River Regional Park — one of Perth’s most historic and diverse natural spaces. This 600‑hectare park is known for its wetlands, long walking trails, tall trees, wildlife, and deep Noongar cultural history. On this misty morning, the river, bushland, and open spaces created a peaceful atmosphere throughout the walk. Highlights of this walk: • Mist lifting over the Canning River • Viewing area used by early‑morning kayakers • Long trails, tall mature trees, and winter sunlight behind the branches • Open green spaces, picnic areas, and BBQ spots • Wildlife throughout the park • Two big black swans walking along the path like people • Total steps today: 10,216 steps About the park: Canning River Regional Park stretches between Nicholson Road Bridge and Kent Street Weir. The river, traditionally known as Djarlgarra, has been a significant place for Noongar families for thousands of years. Today, the park protects wetlands, bushland, and wildlife habitats — home to ducks, herons, egrets, and Western Australia’s iconic black swans.
