Forestry Mulching Before and After | Horse Pasture Reset in Grant Park, IL | GrindForce

Forestry mulching project in Grant Park, Illinois. This was a working horse pasture years ago. Over time it was lost to invasive overgrowth, mostly honeysuckle and buckthorn, along with saplings and a few small trees up to about 8 inches in diameter. The new owner has a horse and needs the pasture usable again before she can bring the horse onto the property. The goal was to clear out the invasive growth, open the ground back up fence line to fence line, and bring the pasture back to what it was meant to be. I cleared the invasive understory and left the mature trees standing. The pasture is open again, the old fence lines are visible, and the ground is ready to come back as grass. I mulched everything on-site. No hauling. No burn piles. The natural mulch layer stays on the ground to stabilize the soil, reduce erosion, and support grass growth, which is exactly what a pasture like this needs going forward. This is what forestry mulching does. It resets the property so it can be used again.
