세가 테트리스 (c) 1988 세가. 일본 내에서만 발매된 아케이드 테트리스. 전 세계적으로 아타리 게임즈 제작 테트리스가 아케이드를 휩쓸었지만, 일본 내에서는 본 작품이 가장 인기 있었던 테트리스. 1989년 일본 게임 잡지 게메스트 주관 제 3회 게메스트 게임 대상 수상작. 일본 내에서 당시 본 작품은 굉장한 인기를 끌었기 때문에, 그만큼 기판을 들여놓고자 하는 곳들도 많았다. 그러나 시스템 16B 오리지널의 공급이 수요를 따라가지 못하는 일이 발생했고, 그렇게 해서 다양한 방법으로 게임을 보급하게 되었다. 시스템 16B 버전: 오리지널 버전. 시스템 16A 버전: 당시 재고가 남았던 시스템 16A의 재고 소진을 위해 발매. 시스템 E 버전: 세가의 초기 가정용 게임기인 세가 마스터 시스템의 호환 기판. 그래픽이나 음질의 측면에서 퀄리티가 많이 떨어지지만 그만큼 인기가 있었다는 것을 보여준 부분. 타이토 B 시스템 버전: 당시 타이토에서 출시했던 게임들 가운데 비인기작들을 대상으로 롬 교체로 발매. 타이토 직영점을 대상으로 교체가 이루어졌다. 교체 대상 게임은 마스터 오브 웨폰과 라스탄 사가 II. 컨포팅하는 데 있어서 시간이 많이 부족했었기 때문에 일부 누락된 요소가 있다는 점을 제외하면 무난하게 컨포트. 다만 시스템 16 기판과 타이토 B 시스템 사이의 음원 칩이 다르므로 배경음이나 효과음이 미묘하게 다르다. 마스터 오브 웨폰 교체 버전은 아예 마스터 오브 웨폰의 효과음을 가져다 썼을 정도. 타이토 H 시스템 버전: 게임 고 포 더 월드의 교체 버전. 타이토 B 시스템으로 컨포트 할 때보다 시간적 여유가 있어, 원작과 별반 차이 없는 퀄리티로 컨포트. 이 시스템 만의 고유한 특징으로는 특정 커맨드를 입력하는 것으로 다양한 옵션을 걸고 플레이를 할 수 있다는 것. 에뮬레이터 MAME에서는 해당 버전들을 모두 덤프해서 플레이할 수 있다. 이야깃거리 - 본 작품에서 레벨 99, 라인 999, 점수 999999를 달성하면 카운터 스톱. 더 이상 레벨이나 라인 수, 점수가 오르지 않는다. 카운터 스톱이 뜨는 것을 사실상의 엔딩으로 간주한다. 2000년대 이후부터 정립되고 알려진 모던 테트리스 룰이 적용되지 않는 테트리스이므로 클래식 테트리스 계열에 해당된다. 해당 계열의 작품들은 홀드, 인피니티, 스핀, 백 투 백, 하드 드랍 등과 같은 룰이 없다. 무조건 플레이어의 동체 시력과 반사신경을 요구. 다만 본 작품에서는 인피니티 비슷한 독자적인 룰이 있다. 테트로미노가 바닥에 닿아도 바로 붙지 않고 일정 시간 동안 움직이거나 회전시킬 수 있는 것. 그 시간이 시스템 16 기판 버전들 기준 대개 테트로미노가 떨어진 직후부터 30프레임 전후. 이 규칙을 이용하지 못하면 최고 속도로 고정되는 레벨 15 이상부터는 플레이하기 어려워진다. 본 작품은 당시 세가의 가정용 게임기인 메가 드라이브로도 이식이 되려고 했지만, 테트리스 저작권과 관련된 80년대 후반과 90년대 초반의 법적 분쟁으로 인해 무산. 그러나 시간이 한참 지나서 2018년 메가 드라이브 미니가 출시되었을 때, 본 작품의 메가 드라이브 이식 버전이 정식으로 수록되었다. 30여 년의 시간이 지나서 빛을 발한 것. 본 작품의 배경음악은 게임 뿌요뿌요 테트리스에서 "Block by Block ~ Beat by Beat"라는 이름으로 어레인지되어 활용된다. 세가 시스템 16B, 시스템 16A 오리지널 버전의 경우, 전원을 껐다가 다시 켜거나 테스트 모드에 들어갔다 나오는 것으로, 테트로미노의 순서를 초기화시킬 수 있다. 즉, 전원을 끄고 켤 때마다, 또는 테스트 모드에 들어갔다 나올 때마다 순서가 매번 같아지는 것. 이 전원 패턴을 이용해서 카운터 스톱을 띄우는 경우도 많다. 본 영상에서는 편집 없는 1시간 분량의 카운터 스톱 영상을 볼 수 있습니다. 난이도는 가장 어려움으로 설정되었으며, 전원 패턴은 사용하지 않았습니다. With lots of its popularity, this game runs on several arcade systems- Sega System 16 Hardware - Original version. System 16B and System 16A. This game was released on System 16B at first, but later, System 16A version was also released. Sega System E Hardware(based on Sega Master System) - Down-grade version. Taito B System Hardware - Alternative version 1. Master of Weapon and Nastar(Rastan Saga II in Japan) conversion kit. Taito H System Hardware - Alternative version 2. Go for the Gold(Record Breaker for World) conversion kit. Taito B System and Taito H System were used at Taito's arcade center, for converting some less popular Taito games. Both system have their own power-on patterns that are not the same as Sega original versions. Taito H System has its own cheat code. At the how-to-play screen, input command, and insert coin(s) then press the start button at the same time players can see iguana at the title screen. If players input code correctly, and insert coin(s), when a iguana appear at the title screen, they can see an alphabet for each code at the left top side of the screen. The arcade version of this game is released only in Japan. It never released outside of Japan. Sega comported this game for MD(Mega Drive), but it failed because of copyright laws and the conflict between Atari and Nintendo for copyright laws of Tetris in early 1990s. MD version is finally came out in 2019, the same year that the console Mega Drive Mini is released. Unlike other classic Tetris games, Sega Tetris has its own rule. Same as other classic Tetris games, it also doesn't contain modern rules like Hold, Spin, Back to Back. However, it contains Infinity-like rule that you can rotate or move blocks within certain seconds right after block is placed. It has intervals that comes down and stick completely. This game has no endings. You can play until the score comes 999999, lines comes 999, and level comes to 99. Right after you reach level 15, blocks comes down at the fastest speed until the game is over. It will be changed by changing Dip switch settings(Easy-Normal-Hard-Hardest). Actually, Normal, Hard, and Hardest have the same fastest speed at Level 15, but there are differences which level is to be started with the fastest speed.
