La verdad de los sucesos de Montejurra 1976

José Arturo Márquez de Prado (1924-2017), National Delegate of Requetés, appointed by Don Javier de Borbón-Parma in 1960, is interviewed on September 8, 2009 by Margarita Suárez de Lezo to recount the actions of the Carlists in 1976, with H.R.H. The Duke of Aranjuez, Don Sixto de Borbón-Parma (current leader of the Traditionalist Communion), sought to recapture Montejurra, a sacred mountain of Carlism where a traditional Stations of the Cross procession was held annually for the dead of the 1936 Crusade. In this audio interview, Márquez de Prado recounts the truth of the events, refuting the falsehoods spread by those who maintain that the Traditionalists received government support and went to the mountain to attack communists, separatists, and ETA members, who, moreover, had no business being on Montejurra, as they had no connection to Carlism. Taking advantage of the so-called "Spanish Transition," Don Sixto's brother, Carlos Hugo, had betrayed the Holy Cause by joining the Marxist side when Franco appointed the liberal Juan Carlos as his successor instead of him. The self-proclaimed "Prince of July 18th" created, in 1970, with the help of some opportunists, a sham "Carlist Party" completely contrary to the history and ideology of Carlism and without the support of the traditional Carlists who had fought in the Crusade of Liberation against communism and separatism. Neither of the two people who tragically died in the confrontation were Carlists, not even members of the sham "Carlist Party," and one of them was likely killed by gunfire from his own ETA allies.
