On May 10, 1990, two women discovered dozens of desecrated graves in the Jewish cemetery of Carpentras. A body had even been exhumed. Pierre Joxe, then Minister of the Interior, claimed to know who was responsible. He implicitly accused supporters of the National Front. The following day, 200,000 people marched in Paris against antisemitism. But the affair was only just beginning.
