2nd Position Plie, Flat Back & Release - Matt Mattox Jazz Dance Technique - with Bob Boross

Bob Boross demonstrates the "2nd Position Flat Back & Release" exercise from the Matt Mattox Freestyle Jazz Dance Technique. This exercise is great warm up for the legs and hamstrings, and lengthening the body in both horizontal and vertical directions. Another key point is developing the dancer's sense of full stretch of the body that then "releases" into a fully relaxed muscular state. This exercise is normally placed as the third or fourth exercise in the class sequence, after plies and half toe. In this series titled "Monday Mattox," Bob teaches a new Mattox technique exercise every Monday. Matt Mattox is one of the pioneers of jazz dance, and his known for his extensive career dancing in movie musicals, on Broadway, television shows, his choreography for Broadway and concert dance companies, and his "freestyle jazz dance technique." Bob Boross was associated with Matt Mattox for over twenty years as a student, dancer in his choreography, and as Matt's biographer. Bob teaches the Mattox technique throughout the country in guest residencies, workshops, and university dance courses. **SUBSCRIBE to Bob Boross - My Jazz And Tap Dance Life, and click the Notifications bell to receive regular updates as to when new videos are posted!
