In this excerpt from a talk held at the Garrison Institute in March, 2013, Christian contemplative David Frenette describes how gratitude can open any moment to the source of love, life and joy. He recounts a recent experience of his own in which openness and attentiveness to breath brought him into a wordless prayer of appreciation. He quotes the 18th-century Christian teacher Jean Pierre de Caussade, 'Every moment is a sacrament,' calling an ordinary moment of time a gift, a window that transmits the divine life.
