NZH Hobbyclub viert 50 jaar met open dagen vol modeltreinen | Haarlem105

Boats, cars, but above all, lots of trains: the NZH Hobby Club in the Waarderpolder area of Haarlem is celebrating its 50th anniversary. The model building club is marking the occasion this weekend with open days in the old Stork building. The club originally started as an initiative of the NZH staff association. After the bus company merged with Connexxion, the hobby club remained affiliated with Connexxion for a while, but by now, the club is open to everyone. “We have over 70 members,” says chairman Jop Broekhof. “Compared to other model building clubs, our average age is quite low, around 58.” The hobby club is located in the basement of the large old Stork building. Upstairs are artists' studios; downstairs lies a world full of model trains. According to Broekhof, the club is not just about model building. “We have our canteen here, where, in addition to talking about model trains, we also talk about everyday things. The social aspect is also a major part of the club.”
