Here is a Gokulashtami concert by the great TNS, the marvelous Mysore Nagaraj and delightful V Nagarajan alongside the grand pitamaha of mridangam Dr. TK Murthy sir whose birthday falls today! This is dedicated to TKM sir whose mridangam playing reverberates in my mind for so many years. You already know about his greatness in my birthday tribute post to him in the community tab of this channel, so I need not reiterate. Coming to TNS, his vast repertoire, breathtaking brigas, spellbinding speed, cerebral imagination, impressive innovation, respect for tradition, immersion to the musical artform to name a few and above all else total sharanagathi towards Lord Sri Krishna are all in display. When he was at his peak, he was breathtaking. Those who got to see him live during his peak including yours truly were soaked in fantastic music. Mysore Nagaraj is brilliant throughout and uplifts every moment, making the listeners gleeful. The late V Nagarajan too provides solid support. Whoever attended this concert was truly blessed.
